Regarding a handgun in 7.62mm, can you buy a .32 auto bullet and shoot it in the same gun? Are they the same? I'm a newbie to handgunning can you guess. Thanx for the help.

If by that you mean 7.62 = .308 dia. (.30 cal)
.32 acp bullet is .311 (typically 71 grains)
So, you could load similar weighted 7.62 bullets in .32 acp; however, I would use caution the other way around. You may also need to use a .30 cal expander to hold the smaller bullet.
I have also resized .32 (.311 / 71 grain bullets) to .30 caliber for use in 7.63 Mauser when bullets were scarce.

There are a bunch of different 30/32 calibre rounds for handguns, and we'd have to know which one specifically you mean to give you a good answer. If it's REALLY "7.62", it could be .30 Mauser or 7.62x25mm Tokarev or possibly even 7.62 Nagant, and if it's "7.65" (7.65 Browning), then that's the European name for the 32 Auto cartridge.
