7.62x25 Tokarev expected? Factory and Surplus?

I don't reload... expecting my first Tokarev pistol shortly. I've heard that the factory ammo is hotter, therefore want to try both.

I am certain the surplus is hotter, atleast Czech that is. It was supposed to be used in SMG's. I have fired both 1950's S&B surplus and new manufacture S&B factory rounds out of my TT33. The surplus was much hotter. The factory was more accurate though.

Which lots did you test ?? The velocity variances were ??
We ran tests on Polish, Hungarian, Czech, Yugoslav, Russian, just to name a few, they were all very close to one another.
ALL were loaded to the standard of the day in the East Block.... The was NO such thing as SMG only ammo, simply not practical for logistic reasons....

civi will generally say norinco, etc, vs simpler marking or Chinese characters for military

Cool, some "silver" bullets would be cool, tell all my horror movie friends that anyway... Bring em in, I'll buy.

Silver Bullets, meh

I am just going through a 2280 case of Tokarev milsurp, and there have been a few boxes with 'silver' bullets with brass casings. Out of about 100, 18 of them were ftf's. No probs with the steel cased copper washed bullet cartridges.

YMMV, IMHO

I was wondering about the 1950's production... what is the life expectancy of this type of ammunition? It's 60 years old.

i started having ftf with silver bullet/brass casings too. No problem with steel casings so far. Rounds with with copper bullets and steel casings are noticably more accurate to boot.
