I was just wondering how 7.62x25 compares to 9mm for recoil? My wife has a wrist injury and cant shoot anything with recoil like my .45.
She wants to move beyond .22 and im just looking for options.

I looked at a PMR-30 but the grip is too large for her.

That's all there is to it.

If you reload though you can make some nice light loads for the Tok just enough to cycle the action. Shooting surplus x25 in a Tok is damn snappy in the hand.

Or you can use 7.63 Mauser. It cycles just fine and is nowhere near as hot.

.38 special is pretty sweet. I know that I got bored with it in my youth, but now that I have all of the hard kicking calibres I could want, the .38 tickles a nice spot once more.

If you're looking for noise without much recoil I'll throw a curve and say .30carbine Ruger Blackhawk. All bark, no bite. Might be a bit heavy a gun, though, if she has a weak wrist.

9mm in a revolver doesn't feel quite as punchy as it does in an auto, I'll add for a third option. The guns are a bit more heavy and you don't have a slide throwing its momentum around. It's a bit more snappy than .38 target loads.

Wait a minute!
7.62x25 is snappier than 9 mm and 9mm is a whole lot snappier on your wrist than a 45acp
I would go with a Revolver in 38 special

Your best bet is GP100 with 6 in barrel.
Length of barrel and weight of the all steel revolver will make shooting 38 special feel very comfortable for your wife.

I disagree. 7.62x25 isn't forceful but snappy, maybe a little more than a steel framed pistol shooting 9mm. I have a polymer compact SD9 that seems to have a ton of snap. 45acp, although a slower recoil impulse, is more forceful than both, in my opinion.

Felt recoil is different for everyone. Not many pistols to choose from to shoot 7.62x25 other than the Tok - and it's a very crude pistol with awful sights and trigger. Tons of options in 9mm. I think these are options that may not work for her if she has an injury.

I'd say that a full sized revolver in 38 special or the 380acp 85% sized 1911 coming out by Browning would be the best bets for the recoil sensitive. That little 1911 might be the perfect size and the right low-velocity centerfire caliber for her. Wanstall's has some on preorder if you want to contact them. 380 is more expensive than 9mm though, so is 38special.

That might do the trick nicely!

Thanks every one for the info on the 7.62!

LOL; other than a personal stash of reloaded fodder, 7.63 Mauser is pretty hard to find I'd think. Not flaming you but that's a tad...um, silly?
7.62 x 25 isn't that snappy, definitely not 45 ACP. Buy a 9mm Tok and get an extra bbl/mags in 7.62 x 25. Don't know if it's as easy as it used to be...5-6 years ago it was a phone call or online order and the gear was at your P.O. in 3 weeks

A 3 lb revolver may not be the best idea for a woman, but 38SP has very little recoil. This is why I recommended the Browning 380 1911 as it's slightly smaller than a full sized 1911, has a slim grip and is around 2 lbs. 380 is usually shot in a smaller pistol so the recoil should be quite minimal.

I believe Grand Power also makes a full sized pistol in 380, good luck finding it though.

Or maybe, since .38 Spec. has come up several times and you folks seem to be "semi-auto" people, keep your eye out for a S&W Model 52?

If you reload for your TT33 and you use 110gr bullets instead of the 85gr bullets that the surplus and factory stuff uses, the recoil drops to around 9mm levels.

I have to admit that a thread on another forum about a catastrophic failure of a Polish TT33 using Sellier and Bellot 85gr factory ammo has me a tad concerned. I haven't seen any similar threads here yet though.
