7.62x39 150gr ammo anyone reload or know where to get any?

You won't find any. Your only real solution is to handload some. And 7.62x39 for bear? Whatever floats your boat, but I would want something with a little more if I was hunting something that might decide to come and kill me.

I have seen Tula 150 gr ammo for sale over here in NZ- what type of bear are you hunting? I imagine a well placed round or three would suffice for a small black bear? I would rather have a 30/30 with really good factory ammo or handloads with nosler partitions. Having said all that, a five round burst to the head of a 1000 pound grizzly would probably kill it. Let me know how you go!

Damn that sucks since I don't reload or am not in any position to start doing so at the moment. If I could find a decent hard hitting round I wouldn't be worried at all since ill be about 25 yards away in a stand with 4 follow ups if needed.

True if had a 30/30 I would use that instead but i'm limited and fortunately there are only black bears in our area although some guy shot a 650lber dressed last fall.'

For black bear you should be fine using any of the commercial hunting ammo made in 7.62x39. If you were out hunting grizzlies, you would definitely want something with a lot more power. In any case, 7.62x39 is marginal for this use. Obviously shot placement is king, but your killzone is much smaller with that round.

Id go with some prvi partisan 123 gr soft point round nose seems like it would be better since round nose seems to be the bullet of choise for slow round like .30-30 and .303brit. You might want to see if it will be reliable in your gun. It works well in my sks and i found quite accurate and a little hotter then regular ammo.

What's your OAL with that 150 Sierra? Just curious.
Yogi isn't armoured. A well placed 125 SP will do nicely. Trick with an SKS, assuming that's what you have, is the rifle being accurate enough. However, Wolf Performance ammo comes with a 154. No idea who carries it.
Harold can't sell reloads. It's illegal without having a pricey licence.

Ohh I didn't know it was illegal to do so, scrap that idea. I have a bunch of MFS softpoint stuff I bought off a guy from Quebec I guess I will just use that if I can't find anything better before the fall. It's unfortunate that there are no nice hunting round offerings around from any of the manufacturers seeing as it is a common place round nowadays.

Hornady SST. They are available in Canada ( if you can find someone that has them in stock ! ). Personally I want a box of the Hornady Zombie MAX rounds ( just to have ). They are the same, except they have a green tip and plated cases. They're not the 150g+ rounds you're hoping for, but from what I've found, probably the best hunting rounds.
