I saw some of this in the US. 7.62x39 150 grain (or close to) soft point. More than 800 ft-lbf energy at 300 yards. The 123 is about 800 at 200 yards.

Does anyone know if we can get that here in Canada anywhere and if the sks barrel can handle it. I know I should reload but I don't shoot enough to justify it and I just want a few rounds for hunting. Something like this would be a little better.

Just looked it up again 7.62x39 150gr CORBON Hunter JSP 987 ft-lb at 300 yards. 800 at 400yds (50 in drop though lol). Available in the US. I would love to buy this if it was in Canada somewhere.

Yeah I haven't seen it. I saw a bit of negatives about the Wolf but I didn't research it too much cause I couldn't find it. I dont think the ballistics were as good as the Corbon.

Only way I can get them is to make them. I pull out the 125gn bullet from a milsurp, remove 1.5gns of powder, and put in a new 150gn bullet. I am averaging 2158fps. No pressure signs and enough energy downrange to out do the .30-30.

If you make them, use the 150 Round Nose bullet for the 30-30. It will expand at SKS velocities and the round nose is not much longer than the pointed 125gr bullet. The pointed 150gr bullet has to be seated too deep.

I have used these. Worked well.

I just finished developing a load for my cz858 using Hornady .311 150g SST's...........shoots about an inch and a half/2 inches at 100m using iron sights.........and yes, according to the ballistic program, it has waaay more energy downrange..........perfect anti-zombie round!

I loaded some 150 grain hornaday in Winchester brass. I used 26 grains IMR 4895. I couldn't put any more powder in even if I wanted to. Couldn't test them properly, but I will load up some more and test.
