7.62x39 bolt actions

Yup, same one that I have... they are a sweet unit... I dropped mine into a modern synthetic also and stored away the canoe paddle stock... this one is unmolested in the original box.

Nice pics... Someone's obviously got a 'thing' for stainless Rugers.

Actually, all Ruger MKII's... I have a bunch of the walnut/blued guns too...

That Stainless lineup is (top to bottom); .223 Rem, .243 Win, .308 Win, 7.62X39, 6.5 Rem Mag & .350 Rem Mag

I wanted an accurate bolt action 7.62x39 for testing the various flavours of milsurp ammo. Used a Rem 788 action (very stiff with fast lock time) and a used 308 target barrel.

The chamber of the 308 was cut off and the barrel was re-threaded and chambered for the 7.62x39. The reamer gave it a good throat, so there is no pressure problem using the 308 barrel.

Barrel was bobbed to 20", to give SKS type velocities. And it made the rifle handy enough that, with a smaller scope, I could hunt with it.

Did not cost much. The 22-250 mag feeds the 7.62x39 ammo.

It was one of the rifles used to test ammo. See:
