I've gotten a new 7.62x39 conversion kit for my Robinson XCR and like many folks have a pile of surplus corrosive ammo but I'd like to develop some loads and avoid the constant cleaning ritual . I find that 7.62x39 brass seems to be hard to find. So, what do you do for brass ? Is there a source, or is there a way to make the brass out of other existing cartridges ? It occurs to me that .308 Win brass is easily available; so could you cut down the case and neck it at the appropriate length ? Or would another calibre brass work for resizing ?

What do you think ?

I think Mystic Precision was a little bit lower than that (for me), and being as you're out west (I think, "wet coast", both coasts are too wet for me :p) shipping will probably be less as well. I believe it cost me $39/100, and he can get you barnes bullets if you want as well.

"...cut down the case..." No. The two cases aren't even close. 7.62NATO/.308 has a 28 thou bigger case head diameter to start with.
You can order BNIB brass through your local gun shop. Winchester makes it.
