So a couple years back I got a good deal on non corrosive 7.62x39. Paid a little more than corrosive to save a bit of cleaning time. Stuff was corrosive as hell!!!!! Called the nice merchant and he basically told me to pound sand! So, my question is, what ammo is actually non corrosive? As innings shoot today but clean gun 3 days later and it hasn't rusted.

And, does non shoot as well as corrosive because my sks isn't a bad shooter.

I was looking at norinco and dominion to be more specific.

Thx.

MFS, Barnaul, Privi Partizan, Tula, Wolf & Norinco are non-corrosive.

The SKS rifle was designed to digest the corrosive ammunition as there was nothing else back in the day so just wash it down with hot water and glass cleaner to wash away the corrosive salts left behind.

Use an old toothbrush or other cleaning brushes to wash it off then rinse with hot water, avoid metal bristles as they will remove bluing.

Here's a link for the Non-Corrosive Norinco www.canadaammo.com/product/detail/norinco-7-62x39-ammunition-box-of-20

A few years ago LA was selling some crap that they insisted was non-corrosive but it was indeed corrosive. They passed it on to other retailers including at least a couple of the site sponsors here. One of them pulled it as soon as they found out. The other one still insisted it was non-corrosive and even showing my nail test results ignored me, and deleted any of my comments. It's sad when there's no honor with some of these retailers.

Thanks. It was one of the names u mentioned and the guy was the equivalent of the bag for a feminine hygiene products. I used windex on my gun and clean/oil afterwards. The corrosive shoots well. I'd just prefer non so that when I'm done, if I'm busy I can let the gun sit without worrying about it rusting overnight.

Norinco from CanAm is non corrosive for sure I have shot it from 2 different rifles over the last 2 wks and have not cleaned or rusted yet. Shoots well too better than Barnaul from 3 of my SKS'S with another pending test firing

Those guys are probably the worst I've ever seen as far as customer service is concerned. If they didn't have so many of the damn rifles I really like I wouldn't deal with them if they were the last retailer in Canada. I hate ethical compromises. Lol.

Yes, as is silver box commercial Norinco if you can find it.

Bottom line: if it comes in a spam can, it is 100% corrosive!!!

You can do a bright nail test, but I basically treat all non-commercial x39 as corrosive.

Not really true. I'm sure that most of spam can ammo is corrosive, but not all.
