Hello, I got a ammo can full of 7.62x39 on a trade. The guy said it is non corrosive chinese. But without the orriginal case there is no way to tell if its legit.
It is a brown steel case with a full metal jacket bullet. The head stamp is 71 over 94 and the odd 71 over 93.
Could anyone confirm its chinese and non corrosive?
I know its no big deal to shoot corrosive. But it would obviously affect the value of the trade if it turns out to be corrosive.
Cheers

I have a whole bunch of chinese from 69 that's super corrosive. Post some pics so we can see.

It could be some of that stuff lever arms has been saying is corrosive but really isn't.

Real non corrosive wasn't really made untill the mid 90's as surplus, and like Gillen said, the 1971-1972 stuff that has been selling as "non corrosive" is only partly true. I had some that was non corrosive for the first 400 or so rounds, then it rusted anything that it went in. Do a search of the lever arms ammo (or just my name and 7.62x39) and you'll have plenty of info on it.
Is there a 3 number pattern on the spam can instead of just the headstamp? if it's something like 31-71-94 the middle number is year of manufacture, and if it is 1971, clean as if it's corrosive because it is a dice roll with it.

If I am picturing the head stamp correct it is 1993 and 1994 production and should be non corrosive but clean like it is corrosive if not positive , not a lot of extra work really

Easy to test. Pull a bullet and fire at a clean piece of steel, put in a damp environment and wait a couple of days.

Has anyone tested the copper wash ammo, is it really non-corrosive or just less corrosive?

I have some of the same stuff, Chinese factory 71—1994. I have nail tested 4 of them and concluded that it is kinda non-corrosive. It promotes corrosion less than the Czech but not as clean as the Federal. 223.

On the cardboard boxes that mine was packed in, it definitely says Non-Corrosive.

Sounds like the OP, however, may have gotten his loose in an ammo can?

Yes they are all loose in a large ammo can, and I can't find my digital camera. I will try to get some pics up so you guys know what I'm talking about. Thanks for all the help everyone.
