Being the owner of a bush range in 7.62x39mm I was wondering if anyone had a match grade handload? Is there such a thing? I know it is not a "sniper rifle" and never will be. That said I have glass bedded the rifle and adjusted the trigger.(it comes with a adjustable trigger:D ) I am just trying to get the most out of the rifle, I also am painfully aware that I must do my part to.

Also does anyone have a load for the LEE 160 grain cast bullet? I think it would work nicely on deer this fall.

So if anyone has a nice hot load let me know.

I find that the usual czech surplus ammo is only good for 4-5" at a hundred yards from a good bolt gun. 31 grains of RL-7 behind a moly'd 110 vmax produces one-hole accuracy from my bolt gun, but this is way over max published loads (for the SKS) and would be suicide to start any higher than about 26 grains.

I've got an old gun magazine article from the mid 80's where a guy (I think Robbie Barkman of Robar) modified a Rem 700 to handle 7.62x39mm. He fitted it with a heavy barrel. sleeved the front of the boltface and machined in an AR-15 extractor IIRC. Basically he turned it into a little tackdriver that shot under MOA. The author was touting it as a LE sharpshooter alternative to the over-penetration of the .308 Win at close range, and the under-penetration of the .223 Rem. I think they were getting good results with the PMC FMJ's. Winchester FMJ is usually very accurate also.

I‘d love it if CZ would make their model 527 carbine in left-hand so the rest of us could enjoy a .311 bore bolt-action rifle (especially with a set trigger.)
