Hello everyone I just bought 6 boxes of what I thought was 20rd boxes of romanian surplus. But when I opened them up I noticed they are brass cased in boxes of 25. The head stamp is 13 88. And they came in a thick clear pack. From what I can find it seems there south african or maybe cuban but I would be surprised if it was cuban. Is this stuff rare here in Canada? and are they better quality ammo then your standard russian or czech surplus.

I have some South African that I bought in the States about 20 years ago.

It's Berdan primed and non-corrosive with lead core bullets.

It also didn't group worth a sh!t out of the only rifle that I ever tested it in.

FWIW, the Czech surplus grouped the best, followed closely by some 1967 Chicom.

I have a case of South African 7.62x39. Unlike MapleSugar, mine shoots very well out of the two firearms I use it in. One is a Howa 1500 short action and the other is a Mini 30.

The ammo I have predates your date stamp by 20 years.

It's non corrosive and very well manufactured with close tolerances and as mentioned, lead core.

I first ran into the SA offering in 1969. The South Africans were supplying the NFLA fighters with Russian SKSs/AK47s and giving them non corrosive ammunition made in SA. Not sure why they did that. They were trying to hide their presence at that time. The headstamps would have been a dead giveaway.

It should be OK in most rifles but each rifle is an entity unto itself.

TURF THE LIBERALS IN 2019

Liberals really like POOR people, they're making more of them every day
