7.62x39 uppers in Canada

That Marstar one wasn't very good (at least the one my son had). Jammomatic! Got rid of it pretty quickly.

Dlask did a limited run a couple of years ago, you can email Joe and see if he can do a custom upper for you or is he is doing another run soon.

Questar used to carry PWS uppers in 7.62x39, but PWS stopped producing them and switched over to 300 BLK. Look in the Equipment Exchange forum, used PWS uppers come up for sale fairly often.

I'd look for for a 7.62x39 barrel. What size of bolt would I need? Do any other cartridges share the same rim(is that the right word?) as the 7.62x39?

The bolt face diameter is the same as a 6.5 Grendel ( same as PPC ) but you need to be careful because a true 6.5 Grendel Bolt is about .011" deeper recess and therefore NOT compatible with 7.62X39 . Some manufacturers were headspacing the Grendel to use 7.62X39 bolts to add to the confusion

Therefore I would go for a proper 7.62X39 bolt

One of the most common is the DPMS . I have yet to break lug on mine

One of the better ones is the MGI or the AR Performance Superbolt ( hard to find...think discontinued ) for the 7.62X39

The advantage of the MGI enhanced reliability is to prevent the light primer strikers on some ammunition ( Wolf etc ) .

You can modify your std 7.62X39 bolt and / or firing pin or you can buy it already done like the MGI

The absolute best is the Lewis Machine Tool Enhanced bolt . Not a catalogue item but if you phone they may still have some left. I have been running one for 2000+ with no issues

I got my upper from GP Tactical a while ago, and I believe they got them from Dlask. Amazing Lothar Walther barrel that make surplus 7.62 very accurate
