7.62x39 where did it all go??

i was talking to my local gun shop today about 7.62x39, and everyone is having a hard time importing it due to the government wanting to stop the import of military ammo. he also says .223 is on the list of military ammo could this be true
i guess stopping the import of ammo is easier than stopping the import of the guns??
iz this smoke up my azz?
