Just curious if any one has ever had a go at them, I can only imagine they are reliable but how accurate are they?

Had a batch awhile ago , right around 1" @ 100 with my 700P , not as a accurate as Port or South African but the stuff is all drying up so buy it regardless.

I have a bunch that shoots around 3-4" at 100m (in other words it sucks) in a couple of guns that can perform, so I would say for sure it likely depends on the lot of ammo and the gun it is used in. Frankly, it is a crap shoot, but Makes for decent brass though.

That's the thing, norc does extreamly well for the cost in my Springfield M1a.

I do get fliers, but some of them may be my fault... Looking for good consistent ammo, not perfect, at that price range. Any other suggestions?

If you can source it, south African, Portuguese and lake city 7.62x51 surplus ammo's are decent for sure. I have not shot any hirtenberger that I can remember so I cannot comment on it at all. I liked the lake city ammo the best by a hair over the others I mentioned, decent accuracy, went bang every time and decent brass to boot. YMMV.

IIRC, during the past there was a warning regarding rather hot Portuguese 7.62x51. Or was that CBC Brazilian ammo instead??

help!

my 14 did not like it 4-6" norc shot better by far

same experiences for me as well , in both norinco barrels and usgi m14 barrelled builds
I have case lots of Portugese, SA, Lake city and Federal powershok, and a couple or so battle packs of the hirtenberger from 10 or so years ago.
SA and Hirt don't group well in my rifles (bolt gun shoots it pretty good - AIA M10)
of all of them, the Hirtenberger has more felt recoil and muzzle rise. I was warned when I bought it by the seller, also a long time m14 nut from the pre 12-3 prohib days, that it might tweak an oprod.....
will be interesting to hear feedback once this ammo hits the ranges.
the above would not prevent me from stocking up on this stuff if my ammo stash was in need.
it has always been regarded as quality surplus and excellent brass for reloading..... if it comes boxer primed that is.

Wasn't great when I bought some from Districorp back 10+ years ago. It was boxer primed, brass was nice and thick to reload with. I found the run-out on the bullets to be atrocious.... Just rolling it on a table and it was very obvious.
At the prices they are asking, with no guarantee you are going to get boxer primed, I'll keep shooting cheap steel case with performs well enough for me.
Tradex had XM80 for $475/500 rounds and that is free shipping. I'd probably go that route if I was buying bulk and wanted reloadable brass....which is LC I believe.

That's the exact lake city stuff I was shooting Hitzy, xm80cl. Like I said decent accuracy, very reliable and good brass. I had no problems with it at all and if I didn't have a decent amount of it now I would buy more. If someone is looking for decent ammo and reloads, this is a no brainer.

The HP ammo seem to be perfectly tailored for the NM M1A, results, reliability and groupings are stellars, i am keeping of big stash of this favorite ammo to feed both my SA NM M1A... JP.

I have shot a lot of late manufacture (1980's mfg) Hirtenberger, with boxer primer pockets, and out of an accurized M1 I got marvelous groups at 200 yards. I just bought a large quantity of 1970's mfg berdan primed Hirt, and I have not had a chance to shoot any of it yet.
