I was experimenting with some loads for my Finn M27 sniper which is chambered for F type cartridge and here is what I have found so far: it works the best with Lapua 7.62x53R case and Hornady 180 gr bullet. I tried 185 Lapua Scenars and 190 gr Berger VLD's but it worked the best with Hornady. So far I used 42.6 gr of IMR3031 powder, CCI primer, 180 gr Hornady Interlocks seated to 3.024" C.O.L....I tried 42 gr and 42.6gr charges coupled with Lapua and Bergers, but Hornady bullet was the best:) Here's a proof: fired through M27 with .308" barrel, 100 yards, OPEN SIGHTS....

The lapua loads gave appr. 2" spread, but when I fired Hornady ones-I couldn't believe my eyes...I definitely found something that this rifle likes. The guy who sold me the gun kept telling me that this thing is very accurate and was owned by an Estonian sniper, who passed away in 1985. The scope was taken off her long before that. She is a 1933 vintage M27, unmodified, except for bent bolt handle and drilled and tapped receiver.

I use .308" diameter bullets. This is an "F" marked rifle with .308" bore. So, the original 7.62x54 ammo is a no-no there. I have another Finn with "D" stamp on it with .3105" bore and normal surplus ammo works just fine.
So, if you have a Finn rifle with just "F" stamp, slug the bore before making decision on what ammo to use.
