Sorry, bad pun but gets to the point of the post.

Got my box of 7.62x54R from SFRC today (great price, reasonable shipping).

Listed as Czech on the site and the crate arrives (880-round) with a "Praha, Czech Republic" sticker on it, and an S&B seal/tag on the latch.

Inside are loose copper-washed rounds with a "67" and "61" headstamp, which according to 7.62x54r.net indicates Chinese production, maybe via Albania.

Anyone have any direct experience with this ammo?

Hmm this would certainly be an interesting situation.... any pictures?

Not to ask an obvious question... but are you sure that it's chinese factory numbers and not the date of production on the czech rims?

Haha chinese czechers. Post up some pics!

I wonder if china make the non-corrosive stuff too? (Hijack)

And puns are awesome. In fact, every time you use one on CGN you should get a "cou-pun" for free ammo!

Sorry that one actually was terrible. I deserve pun-ishment.

Oh god. I'll stop now. Before I get pun-ted out of here.

First off, let me say that I'm quite happy with what I received. SFRC has the lowest price I've found for the calibre, and shipping was less than $50 from Ontario to here in Alberta, so all-in the best price going right now.

The folks at 7.62x54r.net also kindly did a bunch of testing of various types of ammo (it's a great site), and this vintage of ammo, while not showing as the most accurate is certainly better than many of the other surplus options produced. I look forward to running some through my 91/30 (when the one I just purchased arrives).

I'm just kind of curious about how Chinese ammo (and I'm pretty confident it is Chinese) got to the Czech republic and then here to Canada. Perhaps the pictures will help illuminate things.

First, here's the crate. Note the Czech label and the S&B security tag/seal:

Here's what's inside. Loose rounds. The piece of paper inside the vacuum-sealed bag is a mutli-lingual document from Sellier and Bellot warning about reloading.

Here are a couple of rounds:

And, while not really clear, here's the headstamp. The link from my original post takes you to the page on 7.62x54r.net that shows similar ammo...dated 66 instead of (19)67, but coming from factory #61.

SFRC tells me this is the way it comes from the distributor.

Has anyone run any of this ammo through their rifle? How does it shoot?
