Not having much experience with this stuff since the mid 80's I thought I would ask here.

I am looking for bulk ammo in 7.62x54R that has good brass for reloading. I don't care much about what it is, other than I want to reuse the brass.

Any suggestions?

Well, it's either S&B, or PPU, and it turns out Grouse River is cheaper than tradex on the S&B, and cheaper shipping to boot!!

I know where I will be ordering from for my "new to me" Mosin!!!

I would just buy a box of lapua brass and load your own. Prvi is good brass, but lapua is excellent. I know a guy who gets 100 plus reloads with lapua 7.62x54r.

This is for my 1940 Mosin, not a custom 1000 yard bench gun. Light loads for plinking or the odd deer doesn't require hot loads and I bet I could even get Remington brass to last over 10 loads lol.

I just want to put the old girl into service, not frequently though. Just something to pass the time while waiting for my other rifles to cool at the bench.

S&B or PVRI have good brass for reloading. A few sponsors bring in several makes of new brass worth looking at.

I slug the barrels of my Mosins first, but every rifle I have in X54r shoots best with a .312 bullet.

I would call Jerry, but it will be a week or two before I actually order. I am going to be looking for dies as well. Preferably Forster. However I want to figure out the actual bore diameter before I order any dies.

Thanks for the heads up Jerry!!

Regards, Bill
