I've got a C96 on the way as well as a non-numbered bolt stop and 100rds of Fiocchi ammo. I know I will be reloading for this pistol and I think I'll probably want to form some of my own brass as well.

Where can one find 7.63x25 mauser dies? Can 7.62x25 Tok dies be used?

I have read that .223 brass can be cut and formed for this calibre, but I haven't been able to locate detailed instructions online. Anyone have any of this data?

Hi

Lee makes dies and a special crimp die. Higginson powders should be able to order it all for you. I made an extended shell hold for a .308 winchester factory crimp die and that works also.

According to Starline brass, there is a difference between 7.63 mauser and 7.62TT. The Mauser case is longer, not by much, it should not affect you at all. Now if you where loading a hot TT.......

Brass; Fiocchi make ammo with boxer primers, Privy Partisan (yugoslavia) now makes ammo also, but I don't know if any has made it into Canada yet. Sellier and Bellot 7.62TT is also reloadable. I have pulled S&B TT rounds, removed a grain and reloaded it. You then get the same velocity as fiocchi. Starline make 7.63 brass also but getting it up here...

If you are creative and can get your hands on fired IVI 9mm blanks, they can be made into 7.63 brass with some necking up and annealing.

Bullets; Sierra make a 85 grain .308 Soft point pistol bullet that works great.

I use (IMR) SR 4756 powder. I can duplicate the speed of an original DWM loaded round. I have chronied both.

Any other questions, just ask:D

Darren, I would be your friend for life and send you christmas cards if you could find me 7.62 x 25 Tok Carbide dies. Or 30 Mauser for that matter.

As far as I know carbide dies and a bottle neck case don't normally go hand in hand. I guess it's easy to make a straight tapered one but that's about it. eg. 9mm, 357 etc.

I hope I'm wrong though.

I was using the Lee 30 Mauser dies to make my Tok ammo. Worked just fine. You got to lube.

If you really feel ambitious, you can make Tok/Mauser ammo from 223 brass.

It's a lot of work but is possible. Cut, size, neck turn, anneal, size, trim, shoot. Of course, case capacity is smaller so you need to work up from below the min loads. Big work but you will never be without brass.

Have a look at the cartridge dimensions and you will see.
