I've flipped through my book, looked at most websites and I came up empty in my quest to find a 30 Mauser load.

Does ayone has a load to suggest, preferably using Hodgdon or IMR products since they're the easiest for me to acquire (I'm Higginson's addicted), with 90 grains .308 RN FMJ Hornady bullets. How about primers, Small Pistol? Small Pistol Magnum? Small Rifle (Some people told me to use these since it was a bottlenecked cartridge, but I highly doubt it, just checking).

This is to feed a Mauser C96 pistol, just in case it would matter.

Not a lot of "Broomhandles" out there! I think this is what the young Winston Churchill was carrying when the Boers derailed the train he was on in 1899.

Cartrdges of the World lists two loads from the Lyman manual:

86 gr. FMJ over 4.5 gr. of Bullseye for 1160 fps.
" " " over 6.0 gr. of Unique for 1230 fps.

(As always, start low and work up.)

No info on primer choice.

Thanks alot gentlemen, that was very helpful.

This pistol is indeed a nice piece of history, it'll mostly be a safe queen as it is in very good condition and all matching, but I plan to squeeze a few rounds out of it once in a while.

This is the pistol Churchill had in South Africa, but I always tought he had a Red-9 (9mm)
