Hey y’all, recently acquired a type 99 arisaka in 7.7 jap. Wondering if anyone here happens to have ammo or know where to get ammo for it. I would even pay someone to reload some for me as I don’t. Not sure if this is the right place to post this. Thank you!

Sorry, I have no ammo, nor know where to get some, but just have to say hello, welcome, and please do post pics of your rifle and experiences on the range when you take it out.

norma is the only mainstream manufacturer i am aware of that makes 7.7 jap but they do so in small quantity and you would likely have to special order it. last i checked it was about $50 a box. there are some "maw and paw" companies in the states that make, or at least made it but i had heard mixed reviews of quality and again you would have to import it. 7.7 jap is a reloaders cartridge for the most part.

I acquired a nice type 99 rifle a few years ago. As has been said this is a handloader's rifle for the most part. Cases can be made from 30-06 or 8x57 (a little short but works fine) Jacketed bullets made for 303 Br or 7.62 x 54R are correct (.311 or 312). I've had great success with Lyman 311299's sized to .314. Accuracy has been good and it is an interesting rifle which is fun to shoot.

Years ago, I managed to get a few boxes of Norma 6.5 x50 at a local gun show. Buddy only wanted $20 a box, he obviously didn’t know what they were really worth.
The only 7.7 ammo I ever saw was original Milsurp on stripper clips, the owner wanted $50 per 5 round clip.

Odd..... is not the 7.7 Jap on the Prvi Partizan list? They make just about everything else!

Oh well, it's easy enough to make up from any of about 2- different cartridges, but easiest if you start with 8x57.

OTOH, you could just order a bag of the proper brass from Trade-Ex. They have it in stock, made by Prvi Partizan.

Good Luck!
