Started shooting trap last year. It was the best. Not my scores just the fact I was having fun doing it. To me that's all that matters. Anyway. I plan on doing some bunker trap at our new trap club in Saskatoon this year. In International trap, loads are 7/8 oz at 1350 fps. Should be interesting - humbling for sure. Last year half way through I started using Winchester's 1 oz loads and found it had no real bearing on my ATA scores. I'm loading my own now and had planned on using 7/8 @ 1350 fps. Has anyone used these on regular trap? I'm planing on using Winchester hulls, 209 primers, Clays powder and #8 shot in Winchesters pink wad WAA12SL. Its probably a dumb question but should I stick to a load with a velocity of 1350 or drop it 1250. someone told me the clays in international are harder and need the extra oomph to break. I loaded 25 and just playing with it, noticed even at 1350 fps there wasn't much recoil as compared to the 1 1/8 oz.

Just be extra careful with your loads. Looking at the data for clays, the pressures at 1350 are running close to the maximum.

International clays might be a better choice with many 1350fps loads running in the 8500psi range.

Win. used to make a gray colored wad for 7/8oz loads, clays will work, I'd be inclined to drop it back for ATA targets and have some other warmer k
loads when you go to the bunker. FS

For ATA 16 yard targets you don't need anything more than 1100 fps.I've even loaded sub 1100 fps shells for my daughter to use on occasion and they break 16 yard targets just fine. It's all where you point the gun.

Try a Clay Buster Lightning wad, Load data supplied. You could also look up a company called Ballistic Products, they make a brochure about light (3/4-7/8) loads for the 12 @ 1500 fps+, they also supplie the wads. Believe they call it killer bee loads under brochure section.

Hi all I have shoot for the last few years is 7/8 oz loads for ATA close to what you are at and they are wonderfull.
However load with the Win Gray wads as it will take up a little more space.
If you need any other info on the bunker loads Lloyd Litwin is loading and training with his son and i am sure would more than willing to give a little direction.

7/8 oz. 8 1/2's at 1150 just inkballs 16 yard birds and it is very easy to stay in the gun.
Good for a 99 a couple of years ago!
Have fun ,thats why we do it
