Does anyone have these and would be willing to sell?

How about dealers, I haven't found anyone that carries it?

I am considering buying M-48 Yugo Mauser, but what's the point if I don't have reliable source of ammo for it.

Reloading would probably be the answer, but right now I don't have space, time and resources for it.

Thanks,
Dan

There is ammo available for them but, the days of cheap surplus have passed us by...

Site sponsor (listed in above banner) SFRC has a shipment due in soon. They are FANTASTIC to deal with and, they ship too.

The EE is a good place to look (but you'll have to be fast) also, recently aquired some from fellow CGN'er (Andy) for what I thought was a pretty decent price! He didn't have an ad but, one of his posts put me on the trail.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't that the same designation as 8mm mauser or 8x57? .323 bullets like any surplus 8mm mauser except the very early 1888 commission models with the .318 bore. Brass and bullets are very available as is factory ammo. Your hand loads can easily surpass the weak factory loads from North American manufacturers.

 Last I checked it is 8mm Mauser. lots at the gun shows , last time I was in cabela's they had a bunch as well in Federal. If it isn't I expect visits in the hospital shortly:D:p
Agreed, but if you shoot a lot, at $1 per rd, it is pricey. 3 years ago it could be had for 6 cents per rd. Big increase.

Thanks guys.

Looks like I am gonna have to acquire larger residence and dedicate one large room exclusively to my shooting hobby.

Why not , I already went and built a secure 22'x22' building for mine Now all my friends come over and stare , leaving drool all over the place:p and that is just the gun vault part, wait till the archery section and fishing section are finished

Can Am, your cost on it may have been .06/round, the rest of us paid 6-8 times that much.

The last time 8x57 was available in quantity, in Canada, for under a dime/round was in the early 70s and it was not the best stuff around. Mostly, Israeli, corrosive, and lots of hang fires. The last European 8x57 that was available, was the Yugo, 60 year old stuff. It was more like 40 cents a round and it wasn't very impressive.

Now, I'm not complaining. I would love to see a bunch more of the stuff come in.

I blasted through thousands of rounds of the Portugeuse 8mm in the mid '80's to early '90's. That was nice ammo. I've still got a bit left.

IIRC, I paid $.17 each for a big lot of it and some WWII German 8mm in '86 or '87.

Damn, I'm getting old.

Stupid thing is , i'm as old as the rest of you and the only ammo I ever remember being super uber cheap was the .303 surplus for 7$ a box back in the 70's, I've been buying soft point 8mmx 57 recently for 10$ a box and was absolutely ecstatic over that price .

This stuff isn't cheap at all but if you're hunting with it and firing maybe 200ish rounds of it a year than it's affordable. If you're willing to buy a whole big box of it (200 rounds?) then your main gun/ammo dealer might be willing to bring in a box just for you.

I'm afraid the days of the surplus ammo for 8mm mauser are over my friend. If you still want to shoot one then, other than reloading, i believe these are your best option. Have fun out there.
