700 milspec 223 scope

Hi I just purchased a used milspec 5 r 223 .I’m in the 1000 $range and want a straight 10 power scope. I would like to know what you people would recomend.also what would be good base and mounts.

For what it’s worth, my milspec .223 wears a 36 power Weaver. Yes it seems like overkill but when the kids and I get bored shooting the X out of the targets at the range. We have fun shooting the push pins holding up the targets. Great to see your shots with.
If I was to buy a 10 or 12 power fixed scope, it would probably be a Leupold 12 power. All my hunting scopes are Leupold. Chris
