700 FlatlandLSS,True, but I really liked the rifle(I'm not a "mountain" hunter anyway) They could have just changed the name to the 700 Flatland LSS![]()
700 FlatlandLSS,
Hey I like that!
And they could stock it in a thumb hole laminate with a varmit weight barrel..![]()
It's still on their website. Great handling rifle.

It shows the status as "discontinued"....poor assembly of parts anyway...there butt heavy......best thing for these is a Ti stock.....or a McMillan......good part is, guys will buy the factory laminate handles for $250.....
The LSS was discontinued in 2004. Remington discontinued a lot of models in 2004 and 2005.
I respectfully disagree; I find mine to be a very balanced gun and not of poor build quality. Only thing I dislike is the "J-lock" internal lock, which I plan to eventually get rid of. It feels tightly assembled, the bolt is as smooth after 100 rounds as any Tikka I've handled (and they're renowned for their bolt smoothness) and it prints inch groups with factory ammo and an average non-expert shooter (myself).
Here's a review of one:

While I do not deny there are great guns out there, and Tikka, Sako, Browning, Savage, etc. make very nice bolt action rifles, but this is not an inferior gun unless by reason of owner preference.
I like my rifles to have wood, if people want a synthetic stock that's up to them.
I don't think synthetic is inferior, just personal preference.
If I hated Tupperware I wouldn't have a Glock!![]()
The mountain LSS is not discontinued, as has been confirmed by phone calls to Remington. It was omitted by mistake. I also agree, they should put it in a Ti stock.
I said "poor assembly of parts"...not "parts poorly assembled" or "poor parts assembled poorly"...maybe I should have said "poor selection of parts"....nothing wrong with the 700 or the 700 MR LSS,...just the balance thing...with a standard barrel contour it would balance better......I've owned (and sold) three or four of these....
I had one in 7/08....was the most accurate two-shot rifles I had
(Fiirst two shots would make one hole at 100m.....third would open it up to 3/8" unless you gave it 1/2 hour to cool)
