Other than the redesigned stock, is there any actual difference between these 2 rifles?

The SPS SS is about $599, while the BDL SS is about $200 more???

Sure look the same to me.

I got a SS SPS in yesterday. I was quite pleased with the fit and finish. I would buy another.

I won't be shooting it for a while because of work obligations, so that may be another story. :)

I have had both this year. The BDL SS was an older version though and the stock was really crappy tupperware. The SPS is basically the same but I kept it because I liked the upgraded stock. If I remeber correctly the BDL bolt was jeweled and a bit fancier. The bolt on my SPS is plain. For my needs the SPS was the better deal.

The bolt on mine came jeweled. Here's a few pics of detail.

So basically this is purely marketing on behalf of Remington. Reduced the price to hit a price point. Well, good for us!

SuperCub,
you mentioned you got an SPS SS but your pics are of a BDL SS ?
Or is that what you got ? Or do you have both ? Just curious:)

SPS stainless rifles that Ive seen have jeweled bolts
Not any of the ones I've seen, but granted that's only been a couple.

That's not the SPS stock in Supercub's Pic either though ???

The SPS SS pic on the Remmie sight doesn't have a Jeweled bolt either:confused:

The pics are of the new SPS. It's the only all stainless 700 I own, so I can't compare side by side.

Your right about the stock. It's a new McMillan.

$200 price differance,IMO, is due to "spray and bake" finish of SPS's.Has anyone scratched one yet to find out if it is 416 stainless or just "stainless finish"?

From the remington site.

The Model 700 SPS Stainless features an improved, ergonomically designed synthetic stock for better handling and enhanced overall functionality. The bead blasted 416 stainless steel barreled action comes clean without sights and is drilled and tapped for scope mounts.

I bought a SPS stainless about a month ago. No bolt Jewelling, cheap floppy plastic stock no checkering like the one in BC.Wills pic. It is actual stainless and not a coating, though it is roughly beadblasted with some very coarse media of some sort.

Yup the SPS stainless I had definetly did not have a jeweled bolt but the BDL did. I actually don't mind the new stocks on the SPS I really didn't like the original plastic stocks on the BDL's though. Either way they are both good guns.
