So the boys showed up today and they came bearing gifts..hee hee..

GONGS...

we set some out and ranged them..

496 yds
546 yds
640 yds
702 yds..

I had 25 rounds of my fire forming loads.. Banged some once I figured out my chart was off and I had to guestimate drops...

Now to build a real load and get some smaller gongs I think..

ALRC 2010 watch out here we come..LOL...

Why do you figure your charts are off? They might not be; very common culprits to consider are:

- your muzzle velocity is different than that used for the chart
- your scope's adjustments are not what they say they are (e.g. on my Weaver Kt-15, four clicks produces 0.8" of movement at 100y, not 1.0" - nothing wrong with that, just need to know it).

oh no.. I just screwed up and printed a chart for a 308 175SMK at 2600.. not a 123 Scenar at 3150 from a 260AI..

Just a dumb mistake. My buddy actually had one for me that worked..

Yes, it does not get much better then going out the back door, laying down on nice lush lawn grass with a nightforce ballistics program and a few .300's, and pokin shots at gongs over 800yds....

Reminds me of being a kid, loading ammo on the kitchen table then shooting off the doorstep. Someday I'll get back there.

Hey Jerry.. That is the barrel you sold me.. It shot a 0.55 inch 5 shot group at 100 yards in the Lande Tactical comp in DV a couple of weeks ago.. and that was my fire forming load..

Thanks

So glad the barrel is working for you.

LR with a 6.5 is just way too much fun and a whole lot easier then the 308 :)

I bet you over shot alot of your gongs until you got the right drop chart. Those bullets would be shooting very flat at that velocity.

Let us know how things develop.

Jerry
