Hi
I just got my 700p yesterday (the last one that the supplier had).
I want to clean it. Obviously you have to remove the stock. When I reassembly it do I have to torque the screws or just snug.
I did a search and came up with 65 in-lbs.
Thanks in advance

What kind of cleaning are you wanting to do that you need to remove it from the stock? Normal cleaning, you don't need to remove it from the stock. Not to mention, it's a brand new gun, how dirty can it be?

I would suggest that afterwards you leave it dry wherever the action is contacting the stock, as in don't oil it up and then put it back together.

For the action screws, yes, 65-inch pounds is the suggested amount of torque.

(If you don't have a torque wrench, you could always buy the one I'm selling in the EE.) :p

Thanks for the help guys.
I wanted to remove the stock to clean the trigger and oil it.
I also read on the Remington website that even though the rifle is parkerized(sp) its a good idea to spray it with some oil (I used RemOil) let it soak in for a while and wipe it down. Its mainly done to prevent it from rusting.
I do have a dehumidifier in my safe.

Plus I like to take a new gun completely apart (as described in the manual) clan it and put it back together. I read it somewhere and ever since then its stuck with me

Thanks for the offer but I already have a good 1/4 in drive torque wrench.

You don't want to oil the trigger. Lighter fluid will degrease it and leave a nice lubricating film on it. Make sure the stock and action are completely dry of any oil when you put it back together.
