700p

IMHO, if you're looking for a 700P in .223 I'd strongly consider an LTR in that chambering first. 700P's are a bit heavy and combersome for such a smaller cartridge. Why put up with the wieght and size if you don't have to? A more compact LTR would be just right.

P&D Enterprises has a 700P and an LTR in .223 in stock right now... and for some reason they are cheaper then they are at Wholesale. I know it sounds crazy, but I saw it with my own eyes.

Where you are matters, but Epp's is listing several 700 'Police' rifles in assorted chamberings starting at $799. They recently sold one in .223 for just over a grand. The LTR starts at $1164.50. $1319.00 for one in .223.

Identical beside the cosmetic flutes & a narrower HS stocks

Barrel is 6" shorter in addition to having the flutes. Stock is all together different. The LTR doesn't have a palm swell, the forearm isn't near as long and, as mentioned, is more narrow.

They did have a .223 LTR...I just bought it! :D It was a full $90 cheaper than WS...and with that GREAT P&D service. ;)

I have a 700-P in 223 it is awesomely accurate and with the overall weight of the rifle I am able to not lose sight of the target after firing and can always see my shots hit the gophers and the resulting explosions... :D

Mine shoots really well...I just had it out today with a 3-9X Leupold scope on it, and during the first 50 rounds or so I fired with this rifle using cheap factory ammuniton there were many 3 shot 100 yard groups under 1/2". I love it!
