I have never used 700X powder for trap loads before but some of the guys are saying that it is what they are changing too form Red Dot and Clays because of the price. Anyone with any experience with this powder and does it perform as good as says clays at the trap range? It has been around for a long time so I believe it must be okay but just wondering.

I to have settle on 700x for both my 1 onz and 1 1/8 handicap trap loads. I have tried other powders (namely winchester type), however I seem to get the biggest bang for my buck and great preformance with 700x.

I have used it for long time for my shotgun shell and now usint it for my 9mm .It works great for me

I'm sure I've shot over 100lbs of 700X. There's a real nice and soft 1oz load that I use. It's priced pretty well. I have heard of a lot of people moving to Promo powder as it is even cheaper than 700x.

Brad.

I got a deal on couple older 12 pound metal cans of 700X a couple years ago. It works fine but I found it a little dirtier than other powders. If I don't clean the barrel chamber and action on my gun right quick after shooting and it is the slightest bit humid the chamber starts rusting right away. A couple others who I've given a few boxes of shells loaded with this stuff to try had the same problem. Maybe the newer stuff is better, stuff I have is 1980's vintage.

Thanks for the replys. Will maybe load up a lb. of it and try it out soon. Not to keen on the idea of it rusting my barrels as I do not think my Beretta would like that. Do not normally clean or swab my barrels after every shoot. Maybe I should get into that habit. Do not like the 1 oz. loads as I have enough trouble shooting a 20 with my old eyes. Thanks again.
