Hey all,

I'm basking in the glow of my new 725 and just had a question about how to take the extractor arms off. Looked easy on a video for the SP1 but there's nothing for the Citori. I'm reluctant to screw around with it too much without knowing much because it's new and I don't want to cause irreparable damage until I've had it for a few months.

Cheers

Slide the extractor along in its grove until the hole lines up with the sloted screw .remove the screw and the extractor will slide out .

I'm assuming you want to convert the gun to extract only not eject empty hulls.

This can be done by exchanging the stock springs for Colt 1911 firing pin springs. I did this to my 725 Sporting & it worked well.

Instructions can be found on the Shotgun World site under the Browning Shotguns forum.

I am so used to using an O/U, that the fired hulls never hit the ground. As I break the gun, I use my hand to grab the empties.

Then be certain to have the barrels held firmly in place ... like in properly padded vice jaws (don't crush it, just hold firmly) and use a proper screwdriver with a tip that fits the
screws perfectly ... both width and slot. Nothin' worse than "Bubba'd (a.k.a. buggered) screw slots". Theyr'e usually not that tight ... remove extractors slowly to avoid losing the springs.

No springs to worry about if only removing the extractors .if you decide to do the conversion that Rod B talked about you will need to take the hammer struts and springs out of the forearm . be aware that those springs are under a fair bit of compression . the early European model 725 suppositlly had the feature where the ejector hammers could be disengauged to allow for extraction only . this feature was drop on the North Americian model 725 for what ever reason .
