75 round sks drum mag

Junk. I filed and fitted for hours and hours, and I haven't had it feed more than 3 rounds consecutively.
It's been sitting in a pile on my bench for months.
Huge waste of money.

Gotta agree with Nodge. I bought one and honestly spent 4-6 hours filing and fitting it as well. Once I got it to fit, it still had troubles feeding. Filed a little more and fed better but every second or third time it will fail to feed. Just a $200 mistake that I'm stuck with.

Honestly! What's the point with the 5 round limit? I would rather spend the money on a bunch of 5 round mags or convert it to take LAR mags.

Now if the laws changed and removed the mag limits, then hell ya, I would buy 4!

My thoughts exactly, and for the $180.00 price tag on the ones Ive seen, I could buy another new SKS.

Ok I'm thinking of by one AK47/SKSD 75 round drum mag. Is this what u guys are referring to?. If so are all crap or only certain makes. Thanks

I'm referring to just the straight up SKS duckbill type 75 rounder myself. Pretty much junk. Don't know about the AK/SKSD one, different altogether. Also I buy the drum mags for 2 reasons, first cause I can and second if sh!t hits the fan completely I would rather 75 rounds than 5 or 30, thats just me though. Like a wise WW2 legend once said, "In a man to man fight, the winner is he who has 1 more round in his magazine". Erwin Rommel.
Basically hope for the best but prepare for the worst is another good reason. Besides big magazines look cool, lol. The AR 100 rounders makes your gun look like it has a set of balls, bad ass !!!
P.S. Yeah yeah, compensating, I know , I know

I have one, and it took some major surgery on it to make it fit. Mine feeds flawlessly with never a single jam. But I agree it is rather an expensive 5 round mag. But with a tripod, muzzle break, and PU scope, it is pretty cool looking, and always gathers interest at the range. I had the infamous SKS slamfire while using the mag, and it emptied the mag quicker than I could say Oh Sh-t.

Mine is the regular sks version.
On top of it not feeding reliably, the spring also broke loose on the end it was welded or cold soldered. With enough filing and dremel-ing you might be able to make it work, but I've heard the same issues from a few people that bought the drums.

I will add that while trying to get the bolt to even cycle, it got stuck in the closed position with the mag installed, and I had to use a rubber hammer to get the bolt back open. Not fun at all.

Buddy bought one and had to do very little fitting and it will feed the 5 rounds flawlessly. But $200 for 5 rounds is crazy especially when the sks was cheaper than the mag. Plus it looks silly IMO in his tapco stock. But to each his own

The SKS was designed for a 10 rd mag. Any more of the after market crap is like teets on a bull. Too much of the "wannabee"
I find that most aftermarket mags for most guns are crap.

The 75 round drum mag is an sks option (factory). The military did utilize them...in 75 rd mode, weird things happen when you limit (read fiddle fart) the mag. I'm sure they ran fine if run as intended.

They do. I've heard from an immigrant who now works in one of the same oilfields as I.

I have one. It only took me about half an hour of filing down to function properly. Never had an issue with it, feeds all 5 just fine. It throws off the balance of the sks and can make it awkward to shoulder without something to rest the rifle on.

Afaik, these were made for the sks and not a some aftermarket upgrade for the civvie market.

It's a bit of a waste for just 5 rnds but it is kinda cool...
