I've got an older Remington 760 that I want to remove the white spacer that's between the pistol grip cap and the fore end cap. I'm assuming these are glued on. Is there anyway to remove short of cutting them off?

Have broken a couple off by accident. They are glued on. You could try a hair dryer, not sure I would use a heat gun on wood. Or tape it off and paint it black with some Krylon.
If you're using heat, I wouldn't bother whacking it. Get it hot and use an old kitchen knife - or something equally strong, thin and not sharp and work it under an edge and pry. If it's a sticky type of glue, that should work - if it's a hard setting glue, heat is unlikely to help.
