I've just picked up from Epps a brand new 7600 in 35 whelen. It's blued, a carbine, and has synthetic, NON monti-carlo stocks. I was able to find some internet history on it but I'm having trouble with the date coding on it. It's stamped XI which would break down to DEC/88. But they didn't add the whelen to the line up until early ninrties, and didn't add the synthetics until 98.
couple weeks back Epps was showing three in stock, My buddy and I raced up to buy a set but when we got there there was only one left. He bought it. Then last week one popped up again on the site, So i jumped on it.
It's funny...it's all metal construction, no plastic. so one would consider it to be older, but then the plastic stock, the synthtic shotgun stock(No R3) and the new style trigger lock(big plastic one that covers the whole trigger assembly) all makes it seam newer. It's clearly a special run, but how old is it??
