762mmfirearms M14-06

the 7.62x51 replaced the 30-06 with around a 250fps drop. if you love the 06 its good news but if your like me and have no use for an 06 it does seem a step backwards. Now a m14 scaled down to fit the 7.62x39(not like the mini but a true scaled down m14) then I'd get excited.

It doesn't thrill me just because it's a '06, it's simply a rifle I'd want because it exists hehehe. If I hunted with it, which I enjoy already with a super tricked out m14, I would rather hit a moose with an '06 but realize both it and the 308 will get the job done.

I also agree that a x39 , lightened but not scaled down version would be a cool thing to own as well.

Hopefully this coming year will see me starting the M14S-338 federal project and maybe a 6.8 project... But we'll see :D

You read my mind.

30-06, the caliber the Fudd's refuse to let die the death it needs:p

LOL. 30-06 is a better round than .308 in general for hunting. It shoots slightly flatter and faster. Of course, it needs a longer action and burns more powder to get there and I can see why some dislike that.

In a gun like a Ruger No.1, '06 can be loaded very formidably. Much more so than .308.

That being said, I like .308 a lot. But it is not a 1 for 1 replacement for '06. just sayin'....

sorry guys it is a JAE stock the archangel stock is a knock off it does not have the titanium bedding and all the other things that make the stock truely great

That is fricken cool.
I've heard about this project a while back during a phone call with the guys at 7.62 . Cool to see it come to fruition. Wonder if they have it export liscenced?
I would absolutely jump through the hoops to get one of these :D

Somewhere in M14/M1Garand heaven , Mr Browning is smiling I'm sure. And the evolution of this platform continues

I do agree with the cool factor of this rifle, it is certainly a very unique twist on the M14 flavor. However, I must dispute the reference to JMB, as he was dead before the Garand was designed. Not to mention the Garand was designed by John Cantius Garand, who was a Canadian.

I stand corrected on it being a promag should have read it fully rather then skimming through.but still feel the same the promag is a ripoff of the JAE stocks

250 fps is over stated, Remingtons ballistic table shows a 90 fps difference in velocity with 150 grain bullets and 130 fps difference for 165 grain bullets and actually they show about the same drop for 180 grain bullets. This is less than a 5% drop in velocity with about a 25% drop in recoil. Of course with handloads better performance can be had.

I would rather spend my $2995 on the "base model" of this Larue rifle in .308.
