so...like...

Is or isnt all that czech ammo safe to shoot in a Tok pistol?

I hear its meant for sub guns and too hot for pistols

A friend has some and makes his Tok belch flame and fire....out of the ejection port:eek:

true?-False?

anybody had a 762x25 Tokarev blow up or break with this ammo???

I can say first hand that my 1942 Soviet Tokarev handels the czech surplus ammo like a champ. Havnt had a single problem, and can pull off some decent groupings. I have had a few fire balls come out of the barell, usually after shooting fairly fast, but nothing dangerous from what I can tell. I completly took it apart and checked for wear, nothing but normal wear marks, no cracks or anything. I'd say not to worry about it.

You should have seen my grandpa's 30-30 reloads when I was a kid... He had that rifle for like 40 years but I am shocked as his handloads had some real fiery blast to them. I inherited about 60 of them and shot them as a kid and a lot of them had like 3 feet of fire if you shot them as it was getting "around" sunset.

I think I am a much more conservative hand loader than he was.

I watched the pistol Klunk is talking about being fired. Every couple of rounds it would appear to unlock early and throw a fireball (nearly 12" across) out of the ejection port. Also was flinging the brass a good 30+ feet behind the shooter. The ammo is the Czech brass cased surplus 1951 dated stuff. After shooting it myself, I advised him to no longer fire that ammo through that pistol. A wee bit of flame, like an inch or so from the ejection port is nothing to worry about, but a huge fireball is something to be concerned about. I don't know if the ammo is too hot or if his pistol is unlocking early, perhaps due to a bad recoil spring. Will try a different recoil spring and see if it still does it.

EDIT: The pistol is a Russian 1943 Izhesvk TT33.

Thats really weird, I have never experienced anything like that from my TT-33. Could it be do to any left over residue? Slide not fully locked into battery (like a possible gas leak)? I have no idea, does it do this with any other ammo?

Only one good way to find out, find a box of commercial ammo and run a comparison. Since Toks are built like brick ####houses anyway, I wouldn't worry much about it mind you, never heard of one of these things bnlowing up.

Id say its worth a box just for a comparison. Probably cheaper then running to a smith just to have em say its fine, just ####ty ammo!

How much is your hand worth ? ;)

sadly what i meant is you have to use Mauser ammo here and it is no where near the strength of tokarov ammo if there is a place selling commercial tok ammo please let me know i have searched and searched

so unfortunately is not a good comparison
