I bought some 762X51 ammo in 5 rd clips, 2X5rd clips in a cardboard cup.
On the clip you can read C1 lVl 78 and on the brass same lVl 78 and a + in a small circle.
Can someone tell me where this ammo is from."FMJ" I would not want to shoot something corrosive in my new Norc M14.
TIA,CCIC

IVI is Canadian issue ammo and is non-corrosive. The rule of thumb for corrosive is that if it's communist bloc origin, or it's made prior to 1950 then treat it as corrosive.

Yep. Standard CF issue 7.62 ball ammo made in 1978 for our C1A1's and MG's by Valcartier Industries. The '+ in a circle' is a NATO spec headstamp. It won't hurt your M305. I can't recall ever seeing any duds in any of the cases and cases of it the CF issued to us when I ran an Army Cadet Corps long ago. I wouldn't say it's extremely accurate ammo, it wasn't made for great accuracy, but it is reliable.

Once bought a case of IVI 7.62,late 70's production, looked fine, barely had enough energy to cycle action, same with a batch of Brasilian, sold them both to bolt action plinkers.Beware of deals, unless you can buy a hundred rounds to test fire.Best bet is Austrian Hirtenberger, beautiful stuff!

The case of Hirtenberger I had was terrible......bullet runout was brutal.I could roll a case watch the tip go up and down.......
It was nice brass to reload though.

I've actually never encountered corrosive .308 ammo before, not even on the internet. And if it happened to be corrosive, clean your rifle.

Czech 308 in the Torquise box, Copper washed 308 chinese mfg with RG Headstamp, most pre-Korean War stuff.

new to CGN:
is it C21 or C21A1 ammo, one is ball powder and one is extruded powder, the extruded powder lots of IVI are more accurate.
