I wanted to have a set of these on a Rem. M760 that I sometimes have scoped and other times not. I got them and didn't even end up firing the rifle with them on. Having the "ghost ring" mounted that far forward was brutal for me. It took me longer to line up the sights and acquire a sight picture with them than with the factory irons. Some poeple might like them but not me.
I did end up keeping the firesight front sight on though but went back to the original rear sight.

Williams Ghost Ring Firesights

Thanks for the feedback. I plan on using the sight on a Remington 870 Deer Gun with 20”, rifle sighted, smooth bore, fixed IC choke. My max intended range is 50 yds. I’ve taken two nice bucks with it, one at 47 yds, the other at 45 yds. I’ve found that the original iron sights that come on the gun do the job, but I find them to obstruct the target too much. This is why I am interested in the Williams Ghost Ring Firesights. Did you find that these sights obstructed the target more or less than the original factory sights? I also like the idea that these sights allow the shooter to “frame” the target. Did you happen to notice if this sight allowed you to see the target better once you have acquired it and aligned the sights?

I am pretty sure the OP is talking about the GR sight set that mounts onto the factory sight ramp...thus putting it too far forward. A conventional style GR on the rear of the receiver is great for fast target acquistion close to moderate range shooting. This one from Williams that I tried (and that I think is being referred to here) obstructed much of the target...more so than the original sights. With the original sights, I use them in a manner where my POI is on top of wear my front bead is being held.
Ted, go to the Williams web site...you will see the sights I am talking about if you are left scratching your head.
Never looked at the site, but I understand what you are referring to now. That would be a terrible setup to try and work with. One would be better off with no rear sight at all, than a small aperture on the rear sight base on the barrel.
It might work okay if the aperture was about a half inch in diameter. How big was the factory setup that you had?
