Does anyone know how ignitible 777 is? I've always used GOEX in my flinter. Just ran out of FF for the first time in a few years. Is real black powder still the only good propellant for flintlocks? KC

It works just fine, as long as you put about 5 grains of fffg (conventional black powder) in before the main 777 charge and use 4F, instead of Triple Seven, as your priming charge.

Triple Seven, by itself, is a bit difficult to ignite with a spark, so initiating it with a little charge of regular black powder is the way to go.

Black Powder is getting harder to get while triple seven is available at most places that sell reloading supplies so i use triple seven as the bulk powder load like A-zone says so i can stretch out my supply of black powder as the primer and not worry about running out.I couldn't get triple seven to fire in my pan from sparks by itself.
