Hi guys,
My father in law got me a cool WW1 shell. My research shows it was a 77mm German shell but I am unsure. Also what do you gather from the handles on it? Some more research showed that some soldiers would carve these out and put coal in them. This would make sense why there was a small handle made although it's snapped in half.
I'm guessing this soldier made a souvenir for his girl considering it said 1914 Sally 1918 on the handle. Also a cool poppies picture with Souvenir of the Great War on it. Looks like bullets were used as legs so that it could be placed horizontally.
Anybody know more about this?
