Dumb question, but does the 783 have the same foot print as the 700 SA?
I have a 700 SA chassis that I would like to drop a 783 into. Just not sure it if will cross over?

If you want modularity, accessories and aftermarket support, it's best to stick with a rem700 footprint action - lot's of great ones available. Tikka also has some good aftermarket support, but that doesn't help you with your 700 SA chassis.

completely different dimensions... but it does work well.

Jerry

you may wish to clarify your remark

you seem to be saying it will still work well

It seems that your remark was meant to say the 783 as a barrelled action may work well

BUT U COME ACROSS AS SAYING IT DOES WORK WELL FOR ALL REM 700 FOOTPRINT STOCKS and I for one think that is not what you meant to say

clarify if you wish

My 783 is shooting better than the couple of 700s, Savage 10s that I’ve owned.
Maybe it’s the Caliber. 6.5 CM

Precision will have more to do with the chamber job and barrel quality, action has minimal influence on that.

Actions main role is to insert and extract loaded and unloaded rounds from the chamber. In "practical precision shooting" world, reliability to feed and extract your ammo in adverse conditions is invaluable, which many factory actions do a poor job of.

Lot's of quality match 6.5 creedmoor ammo available, and it's an easy cartridge to reload for.
