7mm-08 - Chamber to Ackley or Leave it Alone?

Its just fun to have something different for once. Fire forming brass is simple as can be, you get a modest speed increase and brass trimming is basically eliminated. I have 2 now, just sold my 3rd last week. They're fun, I don't know. Do what makes you happy dude.

The AI concept works better on tapered cases ie 7x57, 30-06, 35 whelen etc..... The biggest plus to an AI "my thoughts" is improved headspacing due to the wider shoulder.

The AI improves velocities only by encouraging people to load to higher pressures. if you look at the percentage increase that it gives the case, there is no other way that this could happen. Also, 100-150FPS is not going to make a difference on how an animal reacts to the bullet, or a noticeable difference to the trajectory..........I say don't bother.

Thanks for the input guys, some good stuff for sure. I think I might just leave it as a 7-08 for now and not mess with it, it shoots quite well so good enough. I am considering a build for my next rifle. One buddy got his RMR from Corlanes and it looks pretty sweet, shoots good as well. Maybe I will just push an AI when I do that or just step up a bit in caliber, I really like the 7mm and .30 cal bullets though, they just seem to work awesome.
