7mm-08 for Moose?

For NB your not likely to see very long shots. I'd start with a 160gr in a Partition or a 150gr in a TXB.
The old 7x57 was renowned with a 175gr RN. I would imagine the 7mm-08 would have similar good results with that bullet as well.

Load a quality bullet like the Nosler partition, Barnes TSX, etc and go hunting! Anything besides the barnes offering I be looking to 150 or 160 grs. I use the barnes TSX 140 gr in a 7 rem mag and it has performed flawlessly on moose and elk. accuracy is superb as well.
In the 7-08 I would suggest the 140 grain TSX.
Keep in mind that, because the 7-08 case is shorter than the 7x57, it doesn't provide as much room for powder with the long, heavy bullets (just like 165's are a better choice than 180's in the .308 while the heavier bullets work fine in the 30-06).
Stick to well-built 140's (TSX especially, or even a bonded bulllet) and you'll be able to maintain higher velocity/flatter trajectory while enjoying excellent penetration on bigger game. (I recently used the 140 TSX in a 7x57 on 300+ yard Kudu with complete penetration through the chest. I would expect it to work the same in the 7-08. I would not have been nearly as comfortable trying the shot with a 175 grain bullet.)

My last moose dropped in his tracks from one shot . 160 gr Speer Grand Slam. Working up a load right now using Nosler 150gr partition. Hoping to get a bit more velocity for longer shots. Hopefully get to use it at the end of the month.
