I am looking at hunting deer with my Mod 7 in 7mm br rem It has a 20 inch barrel I am wondering if anyone has had experience with this cal. I was thinking a top quality 140 grain bullet. Not really sure where to start or with what powder as origionally this was designed as a long barreled pistol round thanks Mark

You are not going to have a lot of bullet expansion due to velocity so I wouldn't suggest any of the "premium" tough bullets.......

I think you would be much better off with a 120 grain bullet from Sierra or Hornady loaded with a fairly hot load.....

I had a 7mm BR barreled up on a 788.this is what I loaded
140 nozler 30 Grain H 322
150 hornady 30 grain H 322
168 serria 30 grain H 322
175 serria 29 grain H 322
175 serria 36 grain W 760
My rifle had a very long lead, but the 140 and 150 loads are very mild.Just to be safe start at least 10 % below what I have listed.
