a friend just gave me some 7mm rem mag loads to use and I know that I should have the nosler manual but I was wondering if 64gr of re22 is to hot with 150gr ballistic tips? Thanks for the help

First things first, Are they being fired in the gun the load was origonally developed for?
Will the C.O.L. match your rifle if they are for a different gun? The Nosler manuals I haved seen don't give a cartridge overall length but tell you to seat the bullet till it just touches the lands and then go .030" shorter. His gun may have a longer throat causing the same load to be to close to the lands in your gun = big pressure spikes.
Did he use the recomended primers from the load data he used?
All of these combinatons for a semi-unknown load add up to big trouble. Even if your gun is identical to his they may respond totally different with the same load.
It is always much better to yank them and start from a safe starting point
My Nosler #4 doesn't list RL 22 with 150gr.
For the 140gr it lists 67.5 as max. for 3340
In the 160 Partition it lists 63gr as max. for 3058
Just from quick referencing what the other powder charge's change from one wieght to another it looks as though they are close to max.

I highly recommend either shoot them in his gun or pull them apart and start over. A blow up could be possible and I hear the pirate look isn't as popular as it once was. ARRRR!

Hope this helps, sorry for the bad news.

I'm afraid Noel is right, your supposed to reduce a load by 10% and work up from there and if i'm reading this right you want to fire his handloads in your rifle, by doing this you will be firing a max. load in a random rifle without working up the load, I believe that this may be dangerous and at best you may not get the performance that would be possible by tailoring the load to your rifle.

thanks for the advice, I think that I am just going to pull them and start down around 57-58 grains. It is a different rifle, so I will make sure c.o.l is right on as well.

its not too hot, should be able to stuff 67-68 grs. of RL22 (or H4831 or WXR) under a 150 gr. and still be ok in a modern strong rifle.

if you're going to pull them (still good idea) and work up a load, start at 63 grains and work upwards slowly

with the lowest starting grain , but IMR 7828 is the best powder of the 7mm rem mag . I think that IMR 7828 ws used to develope of the round when it was first appeared on the seen . I hope this help s . joe
