7mm mag with 162 sst

In my tikka with 162 eld-x I'm running 68.3 gr of h1000. You deff want to work your way up to that though. It's just under a 1 moa load at magazine length 3.330" Coal . Averaging 3035fps Remington brass cci mag primers

Had excellent results with H1000 and 162gr Interlock. Won’t say how much, but more than the load listed above. When I started load development the older manuals had considerably higher max loads than today and never experienced any pressure symptoms in my rifle. Like they say, work your way up!

I went tru this in a few threads i made on here, ended up using slightly fast powder for ideal speed, but shot a sambar hind at 300m pass thru double lung. didnt trust em though an ended up loading in the 7-08 , an load 162 eldx for out there distances.

i couldnt get the 3k in 26 tube with 4831SC.. but think i can with 2217 iirc. i did with re25

RE25 i used, i heard 26 is best.
im goin to use Aussie powder next, u guys might call it retumbo iirc

I have used this bullet for years now and found it to be very accurate but it is sensitive to seating depth. Forget about seating at the cannelure. You will probably find that seating 10 to 30 thou. off the lands will give you the best accuracy.

I’ll second 350 Mag on his question about the SST. Never had any issues with Interlock bullets, but just harvested my first buck with a SST yesterday. 140gr from my 6.5x55 at 75yards, not a screaming hot load but I’m not sure if I’ve seen more bloodshot damage before. Through the lungs about 4” behind the shoulder, 3” entry wound and certainly did it’s job but probably trimmed an 18” circle of jelly and eventually got tired of trimming the shoulder shrapnel out and discarded. Only a sample of one but would hate to see what they do in a 7mm mag.

My Ruger m77 mark ii 7mm likes 60gr imr 4831 with 162 interlocks btsp. Same as a friends Sako 75 in a 7mm mag. Give that a try
