I see a fellow on face book on the 7-08 site is bragging up his 7mm-08 MOSES cartridge . It’s a 7-08 rem with the shoulder pushed ahead case blown out and a steeper shoulder angle . case capacity is 63 grs . He’s claiming 3060 FPS with a 162 gr bullet over top of Hunter powder . 2.958 COAL 27.5 “ barrel

Now a 284 WIN. Which looks nearly identical to his Moses With a 65 gr capacity will not do that SO what’s the MAGIC ? What am I missing ?;). RJ

A 7mm-08 REM AI has a 55 gr capacity .

so did some poking around at imr ..... seems like the 7mm mag with a 24 inch barrel is just hitting 3000 fps ...

mr super dude better say good bye to his hand , because he is holding a bomb

Yupp. Looking at Nosler load data for 160gr bullets I see the following:
7mm Rem Mag, 24" barrel: 80.4gr water capacity, 3063fps w/70gr RL25, 3072fps w/72gr Magpro
284 Win, 24" barrel: 58.0 gr water capacity, 2757 w/55.5 gr H4831sc, 2816 w/55gr Hunter
7mm-08, 26": 47.6gr water capacity, 2759 w/49gr Hunter, 2780 w/47.5gr RL19

Now, I suspect the guy is measuring capacity by filling to the case mouth (which is not how Nosler does it) so these capacity numbers are not directly comparable... But it is clear to me that there is no way in hell you are going to hit 3060fps AND keep pressure under 65k with a modified 7mm-08 case.

Reminds me of the Sherman cartridges...

I’m really SURPRISED that more from here have not chimed in ! RJ

I guess it's just not that interesting or impressive. It doesn't outperform anything that is readily available (like the 7mm RM), and it likely has an abysmal barrel and case life. So it's a niche cartridge with limited advantages and major disadvantages. Woohoo?
