Just figured i would share my latest adventure.

Rifle I'm loading for is my savage 111 lrh 7mm remmag, It has an 26 inch factory barrel with a 1 in 9.5 twist. I settled on two powders to try imr 8133 and reloader 26, right now I'm doing ladder testing to check for extremely spread and velocity changes and pressure signs at .3 grain increments, fine tuning for accuracy will follow

Im running adg brass, federal gold metal match primers and bullet 10 thousands off the lands ho start. I picked up a a decent amount of Berger 140 grain vld hunting bullets, I found with the imr 8133 I couldn't even get close to max charge weight before I ran out cartridge space ( perhaps I need to use a vibrator to fit more in the case, anyways I chronyed it at 3100, at about moa. I guess I need to use that powder with heavy bullets only. I didn't do a latter text as I need heavier bullets to make a good go of it.

Anyways since I couldn't find Berger and rl26 data I loaded to alliants recommended load for the 140 grain nosler accubond as it's the closest bullet listed at 71.2 grains and got 3450 fps with zero pressure signs on either the bolt lift or brass, so I loaded 3 rounds of each charge from 69.7 to 72 grains , so at 72 grains I got an insane velocity of 3520 with a extreme spread of 21 fps, no pressure signs but I think I wont load higher. so I bought 3 more pounds as this will be the powder of choice for me, now I need to get a good shooting rest and lay off the coffee to tweak it for accuracy,

Does anyone else have pet rl 26 recipes to share for 7mmrem?, as I'm looking at perhaps loading heavier in the future, thanks for your time

Yeh I'm sure it's to high pressure, I'm just surprised, I will back it back down, no point in playing with safety and eroding the throat prematurely.

this is what I went off except my bullet is a 140 Berger, I also have 2 more inches more barrel on my rifle, 71.2 g of rl 26 gave me 3450 fps

2" of barrel can add around 80fps, but 3450fps is still going to be producing excessive pressure.

RL 26 gives really good accuracy with incredible speed. I am using 62 grains RL 26 behind a 162 grain eldm, BR2 primer in a 7mm saum, at 3215 fps with no pressure at all. My best group to date is 2.75 inches at 1300 yards.barnard action, 30 inch kreiger, NEAR muzzle brake, dolphin stock and rempel bipod. I am at least a grain below max. Super easy on the brass at this load. AT max it would be easily past 3300 fps but why mess with it when it is already fast and super accurate.

Warning,I have been using this powder since it came out( I think 3 years ago or so). In my experience it burns faster than RL25 , meaning it actually takes less powder than RL25. It would be safer to use RL22 load data as a starting point.

I also worked up a load for my Brother's 7mm RM sendero, 28 inch kreiher with VAIS muzzle brake, 168 berger, RL26 65.5 grains and again 66.5 grains, if I remember correctly the speed was 3070( at 65.5 grains) and 3130( at 66.5 grains). Both loads are capable of sub 1/4 inch 3 shot groups at 100 yards. This gun has a tight chamber so max is about 67.5 grains in this particular gun. I sure wouldn't want to try book max of over 69 grains. That would be way over in this gun.
