I need to start finding a factory load for my new to me rifle in a new to me cartrige the 7mm rem mag. I hunt mostly deer and moose but plan to use this rifle on the odd elk and sheep as well. I prefer to use 1 load out of my guns for all species within reason as that way I know exactly where I am hitting each time. I hunt both open and close country so shots will vary greatly in distance.

I would appreciate your suggestions on ammo selection in the big 7 for the above criteria.

I just bought these the other day. Pretty damb expensive at $35 a box. I'm going out sunday to do some sighting in, so we will see how they preform. They just look so sweet, i dont even want to shoot them.

I shoot the Hornady 154 grain Interbonds, 3100fps. The Hornady 162gr BTSP are my second choice, seem to work a little better on those closer in shots, 2940fps. Both are available through the SIR. Take er easy.

those Ballistic Tips arent the best choice for anything bigger than deer, especially at closer ranges

If you can try to get the new tsx in 160 grain off the shelf and if not have someone reload you some or yourself . A confident bullet to be used on any big game animal .

Thanks for all the advice boys,

I think I am going to give the federals in TSX and the partition a go and just use the one that turns out more accurate in the rifle. However feel free to keep the suggestions coming. Why no suggestions for the 175 grain selections in this cartridge?

175's...you bet.

I've tried them all. 175's IMHO work the best! Always believed that you should go 'large for calibre' when loading the magnums. Even at it's worst I've found my 7mm is a pussy cat with 175's compared to my '06 with 180's. Usually hold together well so I've saved a bundle on bullets in that I've been able to use Hornady's and Speer instead of TSX's and Partitions. Best results are 175's and either H4831SC or IMR7828. Max book loads, chrono at 2850 and have always grouped sub-MOA in my 700 Classic (definitely better than 150's and 160's). Just my personal preference and experience. I really like interlocks...hint.

Reloading Geek-My Bad!

Egads! I didn't read your initial post close enough and immediately started spouting off reloading jargon. For factory ammo I really like the Hornady factory ammo. Real good groups in my Remington with the 175's. They cook along pretty good. My bud's chrono showed them at ~2800 fps. I'm not sure what the manufacturer claims for them, its going to vary rifle to rifle. Good luck.
