New to reloading and am loading 7mm rem mag. I wonder what you guys load and what is the most accurate for hunting. I am using 160 grain sierra's and reloader 22 and have an assortment (powder amounts) loaded and am going to get out next week to find which is the most accurate. What have you guys found accurate in your rifles??

Thanks
Wes

I have been loading mine with 60gr. of IMR 4350, CCI primers, topped off with 150gr. Nosler Partitions with excellent accuracyfor target shooting. For actual hunting rounds, I cap them with 150gr. Nosler Ballistic tips because I noticed deformations in the lead tips from rough handling. My groups are not as tight, but you can still shoot gophers at 200m with them.
I'm sure many will say the bullet weight is too light for anything over an antelope, but I have shot dozens of good size bucks and a dozen moose without ever wounding or loosing them. Shot placement is what counts.
I had found out the hard way what a 175gr. bullet does to a deer if it nicks some bone, so I down sized on someones suggestion and have been happy with the 150's for 20 years now.
I tried diff. powders and bullets at first, but the above combp is what I settled on. Personal preference.

I loaded 160 gr Accuubonds and reloder 22 in a Sako I had last year. I think the load I setteld on which was just over 3000 fps and superaccurate was 64.5 grs.

For me, the super load that I use to test the quality of a 7mm Remington Magnum rifle features 62 grains IMR 4831 pushing a 160-grain bullet (or a 162 Hornady). If that load doesn't give superb results, I'd be almost certain the problem is the rifle or the scope.

That said, around 65 grains of Reloder 22 with the same bullets is also outstanding.

The 7MM REM MAG was orginally tested for production with IMR 7828 . and I have tested other powders , myself (to many to list ) and have found IMR7828 gives the best results . For hunting deer I use 61.0 GRS of 7828 with a Barnes X 160 flat base bullet . My Tikka loves them . And for elk I bump the powder up to 65 GRS for a faster harder hitting bullet . Imr has also came out with a short cut grain powder that gives the same results as the long grain powder , but the short grain meters better . I hope this little bit helps . Joe

thanks

thanks, So much info. I appreciate it. I will keep trying mine and some new combo's in the future to see what the accuracy is like. Thanks again. Keep them coming if you havn't posted.

Thanks
Wes

straight from the bible

that would be the lyman bible

IMR 4350 61grains fed lg rifle magnum primer 175grain nosler partition been doing the job for the past 15years I love this load.
I tried the 150gr nosler ballistic tips one year the most accurate thing I have seen on paper, now the down fall whacked a 4x4 mulie and it took three rounds to put him down, the bullets were explosive at 75 yards. Rifle of choice you guessed it an old Safari Grade Winchester Model 70. Enjoy the season
