I have been searching like crazy and there seams to be a lot of descrepency with max loads with H4831 for a 7 rem mag. I am going to load some 160 gr accubonds and I have some H4831 and IMR 7828 I was going to work up to 65gr of 4831 and about 67 gr with the 7828 does this sound like it is in the ball park?
thanks

It's not a matter of discrepancies, more a matter of different barrels and lot#s of components being used by the people printing the manuals. Those loads you list are at the very top or slightly above the max loads listed in my manuals,so you may or may not reach them without developing excessive chamber pressure.

We can't answer that question, because we don't have your rifle. If it was me I would take my reloading outfit to the range, then load and shoot, adding a grain of powder at a time, while watching for signs of too much pressure.
When excess presure showed up, I would drop back a couple of grains and there would be my load and the answer to your question.
My rifles have always been accurate, likely most accurate, with the full power loads, as indicated as to how I arrive at the full power rating.

Lefty; The figures you have are about right for a 7mm Rem Mag and the 160. However, I would start 2 grains down and work up to those, since they look fairly close to max in today's 7mm Mags. The reason there is so much discrepancy in 7mm Mag loads is that originally, the chambers were often cut a bit more generously than most "modern" rifles. The net result was they would digest a bit more powder safely. Some of the loads suggested in early manuals will sieze the bolt in the more consistently chambered later rifles.
Enjoy your 7mm Mag, Eagleye.

A chronograph is a handy little tool as well.

When your velocity is at/or near top velocities listed you are nearing or at max loads.

That info coupled with inspecting your primer, inspecting/measuring your case and watching out for sticky extraction will let you know when your going too far.

Good advice was given about every rifle being different, and there waaay too many factors that can be different from rifle A to rifle B to make assumptions.

Those powders should be listed in the #6 Manual for Nosler?

If you have chrono I would slowly work up until your close to 3000 fps( or maybe a hair over). Judging by the Nosler #5 manual 3000 fps seems to about the MAX for a 160gr bullet out of a 7mm Rem Mag.

I would stop adding powder when the chrony says 2950-3000 fps with the 160s. Should be around 65-66 grs H4831sc
